Mink Viking Experience is a unique private photo studio where guests transform into Vikings through professional costume styling and portrait photography. ### Booking & Scheduling

**How do I book a session?**
Book online at mink.is/booknow — just pick your date, time, and number of participants. You can book up to an hour before your session. We don't take walk-ins, so please book ahead to secure your spot.

**Do I need to book in advance?**
Yes, we highly recommend booking in advance. We're a small studio with a tight schedule, and sessions fill up quickly—especially during peak tourist season. Book via our website.

**Can I reschedule or cancel my booking?**
Yes! You can cancel or reschedule easily using the web-link in your booking confirmation email. Please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

**What is your cancellation policy?**

**What happens if I'm running late?**
Your time is booked in advance, so just give us a call at +354-537-7577 to let us know. We'll make the most of the time when you arrive, though we may not be able to extend your session if there's a booking after your slot.

### The Experience

**What happens during a Viking portrait session?**
You'll be welcomed into our historic craftsman studio where our local expert staff will dress you in authentic Viking attire—real clothing, weapons, and jewelry handcrafted in Norse traditions. Your photographer will guide you through various poses, share fascinating Viking history and culture, and capture both stoic and action shots. You'll leave feeling like a legendary warrior!

**Do you provide costumes and props?**
Yes! We provide everything you need—period-accurate clothing, authentic weapons (axes, swords, shields), jewelry, and accessories. We will dress and decorate you in an original fashion. Just bring yourself!

**Do you offer hair or makeup services?**
We have some limited black charcoal makeup and blonde clip-in hair braids available in-studio. For a dedicated hair service, we recommend booking with Rauðhetta — www.raudhetta.is or call +354-511-4004.

**Can you recommend someone for Viking tattoos or body art?**

**Do you know a Viking fortune teller or rune reader in Reykjavik?**

**Is the experience suitable for children?**
Absolutely! All ages are welcome — include children in the participant count when booking. Pricing is the same for all participants as everyone requires time for dressing, posing, interacting, and photographing, including little ones. We work closely with your family to divide photography time to best suit your needs — group, subgroup (parents, siblings, etc.), and individual shots. We have costumes and props sized for younger guests.

**Is there a minimum age for children?**
No minimum age — as long as parents or guardians are present and responsible for looking after the little one during the session.

**How long has the studio been in operation?**
The studio has evolved from a word-of-mouth-only attraction since 2014 and has always been in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. Originated by Guðmann Þór (God-man Thor) alongside local and expert staff who have been operating the Viking Experience studio together for years after working closely on various productions together such as Game of Thrones in North Iceland.

**What will I learn during my session?**
Our photographers share fascinating insights about Viking history, Norse mythology, and Icelandic culture throughout your session. Many guests say this educational aspect was a highlight—you'll leave with both amazing photos and new knowledge!

**Can I request a specific Viking character or look (shield-maiden, berserker, jarl, etc.)?**
If you have some looks you love, the easiest way is to show us visual examples — perhaps from our gallery at mink.is/gallery or similar photography — and we'll do our best to match the mood and looks you're after.

**Is video recording available, or just photography?**
Although we don't video record regular sessions, if you have people with you they are welcome to take photos and videos with their devices all they like — and you can share and post as you wish.

**Can I bring my pet to the session?**
If your pet is your responsibility and isn't prone to roam unattended, that sounds fine to us!

### Photos & Delivery

**When will I receive my photos?**
Your full resolution gallery of all photos taken is delivered digitally the same day.

**What format are the photos delivered in?**
You'll receive all full original resolution photos as an online gallery link, easily opened on phones or any device for immediate enjoyment. You can download full resolution photos individually or in bulk right from the site. There's also an option to order physical prints or photo-related merchandise, or you can download and print as you like. We use SmugMug for this service, and galleries are available online for at least six months — so there's no rush to download or back up while travelling.

**How many photos do I get?**
On average there are 20–30+ photos per participant, including individual and group shots (2 people = 60+, 3 people = 90+ photos, etc.). ALL photos taken are included in the full resolution gallery we send you, treated with our special look.

**Can I share the photos on social media?**
Absolutely! We encourage you to share your Viking transformation. Tag us @minkvikingportrait on Instagram!

**Can I use the photos commercially (marketing, book covers, etc.)?**
Personal usage rights are included — use images as you like for personal, social, or personal business purposes (LinkedIn photo, etc.). Prohibited use includes using images for Iceland-related tourism promotion or in direct advertising of a product or service. Please contact us for special permission or terms for such use.

**Do you retain rights to the photos? Can you use my photos in your marketing?**
We don't use your images without your consent. If you feel great about your shoot and want to let us know we can use them for generic promotions (our gallery, Facebook, or Instagram posts/ads), just let us know!

**What if I lost my photo download link or it expired?**
The galleries and their secret links stay in the system for at least six months, archived. Just contact us if you need us to look up the link for you.

**Do you offer prints on-site?**
On special request we can print color and black & white prints in 5x7, 8x10, or 11x14 (inches) on our exclusive metallic luster archival-quality paper, available for pick-up same day. We hope to automate this process and offer it to previous customers by mail in the near future.

**How much does a session cost?**
Please see mink.is/booknow for current pricing. Currently our base pricing is in EUR, but you can pay with no exchange rate penalty in other currencies as well — USD, GBP, CAD, AUD, etc. As of now, pricing is 125 EUR for the first person and 100 EUR per each additional participant in the booking. All ages welcome. Price includes the full experience and all digital photos.

**What's included in the price?**
Everything! Your session includes:

**Are there discounts for groups?**

**What payment methods do you accept?**
We accept major credit cards and Apple Pay/Google Pay, both via our direct credit card processor as well as via PayPal.

**Do you accept Icelandic krona (ISK) or only EUR?**
Both, as well as other currencies with no exchange rate fees. Just choose from the dropdown on the booking page at mink.is/booknow.

**Do you offer gift cards?**
Yes! Gift cards are available and valid for 18 months. You'll receive a beautiful custom PDF instantly—perfect for printing or emailing. Purchase at mink.is/gjafabref.

**Do you offer student, military, or other discounts?**
Our pricing is 125 EUR (or equivalent in your chosen currency) for the first person, 100 EUR for each additional person. Large groups (over 8) or multiple bookings can reach out to us for discount codes and custom offers at support@mink.is.

**Can I tip the staff?**
Tipping isn't customary or expected in Iceland. That said, if you'd like to tip, you're free to do so.

**Do you charge extra for outdoor/location shoots?**
Our booking system is for sessions at our Viking Experience Studio at Laugavegur 11, downtown Reykjavik. Outdoor or event shoots are custom requests and cost more as they require more time and resources than studio shoots. Contact us with your ideas at support@mink.is.

### Location & Getting There

**Where is the studio located?**

**How do I find the entrance?**
Look for a wooden bench with a Viking window poster by it. The studio entrance is just to the right of it. We are upstairs on the 2nd floor on the right side of the building. Ask ahead if assistance is needed.

**Is the studio accessible?**
We're located on the 2nd floor via stairs. If you need assistance, please contact us in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

**Where can I park?**
"Tradarkort" is the closest parking garage and there is much street parking nearby, but it is usually metered.

**Should I arrive early?**
Please don't arrive more than 5 minutes early. Due to our small studio size and tight schedule, we cannot accommodate early arrivals. Your session will start promptly at your booked time.

**Is there a waiting area for non-participants or early arrivals?**
If the total participants and spectators is 8 or less, we can accommodate. We are planning in the coming months to have a secondary area — more details to come on that soon.

**Is there somewhere to store personal belongings during the session?**
The studio is private for your booking, so your belongings are safe. We don't have much extra room, but bags, coats, etc. can go on chairs, benches, and so on. We don't have room for more than 2 persons' luggage though — contact us in advance if you need special accommodation.

**Can you accommodate very large or tall people?**
We cater to Vikings of all sizes and can layer our capes, furs, and accessories onto nearly any willing human. If you want to check with us beforehand, feel free to be in touch.

**What accessibility options do you have for people with disabilities or mobility issues?**
We can assist you on the winding stairs if needed, but unfortunately there is no lift. Please contact us in advance so we can prepare to help.

**How many people can book together?**
We accommodate groups of up to 8 people in our standard sessions. Each person gets individual photos as well as group/combo shots. Larger groups or multiple bookings can be in touch for details or pricing at support@mink.is.

**Do you do weddings, engagements, or other special events?**
Yes — just contact us with your details at support@mink.is to discuss. We do things like this often when our schedules allow.

**Do you do corporate events, incentive trips, trade shows, or special occasions (DMC/MICE)?**
Yes — we work closely with DMCs, MICE planners, VIP agents, and event coordinators both locally and internationally to plan custom, multi-attraction Viking/Norse themed events on our site or yours. Whether it's a corporate incentive trip, conference activity, team-building event, trade show activation, wedding, bachelor/bachelorette party, or birthday — we have extensive experience with small intimate groups to groups of 100+, working with entertainers, re-enactors, fortune tellers, axe throwing, and more. **What outdoor or on-location settings are available?**

**What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor shoot?**
We always have the studio or other more covered locations on hand.

### Additional Questions

**What should I wear to my session?**
Wear whatever is comfortable — we'll dress you in full Viking attire over your clothes. Ideally wear a wide scoop-neck undershirt so it doesn't show under the tunics. We have a bathroom/changing room if you'd prefer to remove your undershirt and wear our tunics directly — it's up to you. You'll keep your pants/bottoms and shoes on. Avoid bulky items that might show under the costumes.

**Can I bring my own props or costumes?**
We have an extensive collection of authentic items, but if you have something special you'd like to incorporate, bring it along and I'm sure we can work it in.

**Can I bring food or drinks to the session?**
Celebratory drinks are no problem, but please avoid snacks or eating in the studio unless for a child.

**Do you offer any experiences beyond photography (e.g., Viking feast, axe throwing, workshops)?**
